Kazuramimba Catchment Conservation and Education (KACCE) is a voluntary non-profit organization founded by local community members and registered on October 9th, 2012 under Registration number KDC/CBO/051/2012, in accordance with the policy of non-governmental organizations. It operates in Uvinza district (formerly Kigoma district) in Kigoma region, in western Tanzania. KACCE works for and with all residents of Uvinza, regardless of age, ethnicity, disability, gender, color

nationality, religion or political affiliation, or social appurtenance. KACCE’s primary goal is to conserve the environment, improving the living conditions of local communities, promote gender equality, human rights, and the integration of community organizations through a participatory approach.

KACCE is a holistic program that supports educational initiatives in the hope of raising community awareness about the importance of environmental conservation. At the same time, KACCE also aims to equip community members with the technical knowledge necessary for the sustainable management of natural resources.

Our Projects

Founded in 2012, Kazuramimba Catchment Conservation and Education (KACCE) is a charitable, membership-based CBO dedicated to promoting environmental and conservation issues to all levels of the community. We organize Tanzania’s only nation-wide environmental education programs, spearhead community-based conservation efforts in key ecosystems, and advocate for conservation policies. Our work is built around seven key strategic focus areas; -

Environmental Conservation program

This was done through promoting both environmental improvement and conservation practices by educating, encourage and support local populations in Environmental practices, Art and Culture development, Education Support for Environment Conservation, Water sources protection and Community livelihoods improvement by working with and for the target communities.

Education Support to Vulnerable children program

KACCE is dedicated to combat ignorance, illiteracy and increase school attendance and good record for vulnerable and poorest children. Mostly named “Education Support for Environment Protection”. The program activities include provision of school materials to children

Social-Economic empowerment program

Avoiding unsafe and extreme deterioration of environment and natural resources, KACCE strives to socially and economically empowering the poorest communities with substitutional sources of income. In view of the interdependent relationship between the community members and the environment, KACCE help them to generate alternative sources of sustainable livelihoods. The aim is to equip community members with the technical know-how of engaging in sustainable natural resource management.

Health and Sanitation program

The program aims at improving Water supply, Environmental hygiene, Sanitation education, Education on Solid wastes management & composting which are long lasting health benefits to community dwellers. The program also provide improved medical facilities and services to needy community members engaged in environment and catchment conservation in target villages.

Sports and Culture Promotion program

KACCE promote Sports, Arts and Cultures to create significant positive impact Primary and Secondary Schools and for Out-of-school children to enhance environment conservation by raising awareness, promoting sustainable practices and lasting green infrastructure.

Wastes Management

Solid wastes including plastic pollution is threatening the water, safety, and health of Tanzanians. We are engaging Tanzanians, especially rural communities to turn the tide through education and creating alternatives.

Health and Nutrition Improvement

We are running multiple small scale projects aimed to improving nutrition and hipso-facto the health status to the most deprived people in rural and indigenous areas, especial to school-going children affected by stunting and to people living or infected by HIV/AIDS.
